I think he just forgets that even though he's a god, he doesn't have access to ambrosia here. Besides, even gods have limits.

Not having access to ambrosia is the worst part of this place. It’s so hard to remember that all the healing is a chore for someone else.

I’ll bring water and food, but I’m not buying a hat. Do they sell sunscreen here?

There's nothing wrong with stealing borrowing! Just if I can't give it back, then I don't want to borrow something from someone who needs it more. I'm not squeegeeing sunscreen off later.
